As I Was Saying...: Yes, you!
Isn't it funny when you talk to someone or ask a question of someone and quite a few people think that the conversation is directly about them.
Well this is about you. Of course the 'you' is the person I am talking about so if you aren't that person, then you can ignore this and go back to what you were doing before I interupted you
If not, then read on. If you consider that you are a person of good moral fibre, then you will feel inclined to reply...

Writing: Pride and Prejudice

Pride comes before a fall… or that is the saying that we quite often hear and how many times does that come true.
As with a fair few words in the English language, pride, by definition, sets us up for the fall.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with having pride in oneself but having pride to the detriment of those around us can lead us along a precarious path where one mistake or wrong turn can cause all sorts of interesting scenarios and the doomsayers begin barking at such an opportunity...

Writing: The Wrong Side of the Bed
Have you ever noticed that when you are in a good mood, everything appears differently to when you are feeling under the weather?
Does this mean that the good mood is a factor in a good day or is it something else that determines whether today is going to be a good day or not.
Take the saying, “He (or she) got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning”
Well I followed this saying up a little and guess what?

Writing: Yeah, Yeah, another team meeting
You’ve heard it before, We need to become more Team Orientated
Fat chance, you think to yourself… I don’t even like half these idiots and they don’t do half the work I do, and all they do is moan.
Yep, I have heard it said before too. Teams are great if they are firing but they can be hell on earth if there is a dispute or conflict. For some reason, Managers persist with these ideas and try to gee up the members with pep talks and the like but it’s as if the team is lacking some daily vitamin or nutrient. For some reason teams don’t really fire much more than the individuals in them. So what do we have?

Writing: Take another look
In the past, I have concentrated on the blindness that we can have and requested you ask yourself questions to move out of any blindness that may be hindering you in your surroundings.
This week I would like to take this a step further and look at this item called Peripheral Vision.
Sometimes we can be convinced we see the whole picture but is that all there is to the equation?

Writing: There are none so blind as those who will not see
Everyday we go about our lives. Doing our work, playing our play but do we see all that we need to?
During the course of my day, I am privy to some very interesting conversations. One, in particular has been in an organization and the way people treat each other inside that organization.
Now this conversation has cropped up from time to time and raises some interesting points about the workings of organizations and groups, especially the blindness that occurs within the confines of the group.

Writing: What's the difference between a call center and getting help?
This last week I have shifted house and with the change of address came the organization of letting everyone know where I was going to. I also had to change my phone number and internet service provider.
I was lucky. Some time ago, I had grouped the two together for ease of billing and only having to call one company when sorting out any problems…
Oh how wrong I could be!

Writing: Splitting The Personalities

So many times I hear of people who wish to make a few extra bucks to help out but are totally stumped as to what to do.
Talking to some of these intelligent people raises more questions for them than answers but in inquiring further, I always find that they have some fantastic ideas and yet fail to grasp the business nous to take their idea into the real world and make their dream a reality.
So why is it that you have the idea, have a bit of time to devote to the project, most of us even have a little bit of pocket money to spend on it (even if it is just a few dollars) and all have the intellect to carry it through but so many fail to start?

Writing: Now we know our ABC's

Have you ever secretly thought about something you do and considered that you would like to stop doing it?… you know that little habit that you know you do, and you sure as hell hope that no-one ever catches you doing it
What about that big thing that happens to you when you can least afford it to happen?
Every one of us has one or two of these little embarrassing little habits, and we all know that the ones that don't, usually are pretty good at keeping their secret habit under wraps. | |

Writing: Under the Influence
It may astound you to know how much influence you have in everything you do. Whether it be in your working environment, family and friends, or life… you control a sizable chunk of what happens in and around every place you are!
Now this can be a little unnerving, you can put yourself in this self denial but that won't change the above fact. Even if you totally disagree, the fact remains that you are running this show...
